For my next shoot I'm going to use studio lights very similar to what I did in shoot 5. I feel shoot 5 worked out really well and I was very happy with the outcomes I was able to achieve. I was also thinking about doing similar sort of edits for my final piece with my final shoot. I really love the studio lighting and with a black background think it gives a wonderful tone to the skin and look, feel and atmosphere to the photographs. It's the sort of lighting that captures peoples eye; makes them want to view the photographs close up. I have always been a fan of studio lighting and still life so I'm really looking forward to this shoot. I am going to get George to actually sing and play the guitar so I manage to get really powerful and truthful images. I want those expressions in his face that make the audience who are watching him think,"wow he really wants this." This is what I really want to achieve as this is the whole message behind the shoot and will be part of my final piece; to make him look truthful to himself and being a musician, making the audience see him in a light that he wants them to see him in. However, then it will lead on to the third part of my final piece which will be the "behind the scenes" part, and what the audience really should see in him; linking to the drugs. This is why I really want to capture those expressions and that emotion within his face; really make the audience/viewer believe he's a good musician and nothing comes between that; when undercover it does.
I have used this photograph from the internet as inspiration to me due to the lighting used. This is exactly the sort of lighting I want to achieve within my shoot; coming in from the right hand side and capturing that side of the face. However, I want to be able to shoot him a tiny bit sidewards on so that he doesn't have a nasty contrast over his face. This is what you have to be careful of when it comes to portraiture. Within the girls face in this photograph though, you get the little parts of the face shaded and highlighted; this is what I want to try and capture in my shoot. This photo also has a black background which in my opinion, works a lot better with portraiture and still life photography as it gives it that powerful feel and dramatic atmosphere which I really love as I feel that is what makes the imagery exciting and eye-capturing. I'm really looking forward to this shoot and I hope it turns out how I'd like it too.
