Shoot 10

Opinion on the Shoot

I feel the edits of this shoot turned out really well and just how I wanted them to, however I wasn't too pleased with the shoot at first. In my exam book by the side of this blog, you will see the contact sheet of this shoot. It was really hard photographing on this particular day as the sun was very bright and powerful. This resulted in most of my images being very over-exposed and I felt there was nothing I could do about this. I raised the f-stop, raised the shutter speed as fast as possible and kept the ISO low however it still didn't improve as much as I wanted it to. However getting back to Photoshop and doing a little bit of work on the photographs I found out they turned out great anyway and I'm really pleased with them.

Shoot Plan and Research

This next shoot is going to be another one based on the response to George's music. I want to do a few photo shoots based on this as it then gives me a variety of ideas on what to do for my final piece. As I found George's music quite mysterious along with being very relaxing, I want to introduce this mysterious side into it. While I was listening to his music, I felt like I was in a forest in the middle of nowhere with fairies all around me. I know this sounds very strange but this is exactly how it made me feel. It was very fairylike and mysterious which is why I came to this conclusion; and I am going to try and photograph just that. I have found a couple of photographs on the internet of the woods which are exactly the type I want to be able to capture:

I absolutely love these two photographs and this is based mainly on the sunlight shining through the trees. I want to pick a suitable day where the sun is shining as it is quite good weather in England at the moment and capture some photographs just like these. There wont be as high trees as there is in these photographs but hopefully I'll be able to capture that beautiful sunlight shining through. I also love the warm colours that have been captured within these photos from the sun and so hopefully I'll be able to capture these sorts of colours too. I feel that the sun within the photographs is what makes them have a mysterious feel to them and so is a major part of the photograph. I am also going to add a fairy in with these photographs just to see how it turns out; as that was exactly what I saw and felt while listening to George's music. I will need to use a low ISO and faster shutter speed so that the photographs don't come out too bright. However when using a fast shutter speed, sometimes the photographs can turn out too dark when there isn't loads of sunlight; so I will have to level the settings out to suit each other.

Shoot 11

I felt this shoot went really well and I love the final images I was able to achieve.
I really like these edits I've done as they're quite quirky and a bit of fun. I think they look really good and definitely fit under the theme of mystery and fairylike. I absolutely love the sunlight I was able to capture within these photographs and am really pleased with the final result. I most probably wont use these edits within my final piece; however I will use one of the forest photographs as I absolutely love them and they turned out exactly how I wanted them too.

Plan for my Next Shoot

For my next shoot I am planning to capture smoke from matches that will portray the smoke from the drugs within the life of musicians. Within my final piece I am planning to edit photographs onto one another to create a really powerful image. With the smoke I am planning to edit this onto a normal drugs photo and let it portray confusion within their lives; also maybe linking to the metaphor "their lives going up in smoke" if they don't calm down or stop. This first shoot is just going to be a tester to see how I get on because from past experience I have realised that capturing smoke is very hard to do. I also found this with my musician shoot last week with the smoking by the Severn.

Shoot 12

I really love this photograph as it shows the movement of the smoke just flowing along the ground. I think it worked really well and is also relaxing for the audience to look at. I felt that it looked a lot better in black and white and the only problem I have with it is that I captured a bit off of the black background and so you can see the carpet. However; if I go on to editing this photograph for my final piece I will make sure I get rid of this so that it doesn't take the audiences attention off of the smoke.

The one thing I love about this photograph is the warm colours captured within the smoke. I'm really happy I was able to capture such good movement within this photograph and a few others as I had a lot of problems trying to do it all myself with no one there able to blow out the match and let me take the photographs. I also love the lighting in this photo and the one above as it's like a beam of light going across the bottom of the image which is then lighting up the smoke as it rises to the sky. I'm quite happy with the overall outcome of this shoot however within my next shoot I am going to try the same again but with help from someone else so that hopefully I'll be more successful with capturing more amounts of smoke.

Shoot 13

This shoot worked out so much better than my last one and I'm so so happy with the outcome. After editing them and turning them into black and white I've realised how gorgeous they look. Even though it took me a while to experiment with the lighting etc I'm really happy with the final edits I've managed to create. You will be able to see my progress of the shoots in my Exam work book I have along side this blog. Even though I'm really happy with the outcome of this shoot, I'm still going to try a couple more shoots so I have a variety to choose from and so I can experiment with different things. The two more things I'm going to try out is food dye within glass jars and also the smoke from the kettle onto a black background. My teacher informed me on these two things that I could try out so I want to give them a go so that I have a wider variety of photographs to choose from.
